Two groups of second year Fine Art students from Winchester School of Art created some playful and intriguing outdoor installations this week around the city centre of Winchester.
Banamusa (Abbey Gardens)
“This piece came from the idea of positioning something out of context. We were inspired by Andy Goldsworthy who uses only natural materials to create these installations and patterns that you question as being completely natural.”

“The work stems from the notion of human intervention whereby to understand something we have to organise it.”
Artists: Alison Brake, Rosie O'Driscoll, Emma Knowles and Claire Daly
Transience and Corrosion (St George’s Street)
“As a group we have created multiple pieces that each tackles a different aspect of corrosion. For example, we have work that deals with the use of corrosive materials; the soap pieces use an everyday object to tackle ideas of a corroding landscape and the human and natural forces that dictate the way that the land will change. Other ideas explored are those of memory and how the passing of time, or implication of it, changes perspective.”
Artists: Linda Webber, Ysanne Turton, Charlotte Thatcher and Rose Gander
